IREDELL COUNTY, N.C. — Iredell County deputies are looking for a man they allege shot someone during a domestic dispute early Thursday morning.
The Iredell County Sheriff’s Office responded to a reported shooting at the intersection of Wiggins Road and Mount Ulla Highway, a few miles outside of Mooresville, around 3:15 a.m. on Jan. 16. When deputies arrived, they found one person who had been shot in the lower abdomen. The victim was taken to the hospital by Iredell County EMS after speaking with detectives.
The victim told deputies that the suspect, 33-year-old John Dexter Wines, followed their car earlier that night. When they reached the intersection where the shooting happened, the victim claimed that Wines blocked their vehicle and approached them with a handgun.
