BROOKINGS — South Dakota State dominated the first and third quarters against Kansas City on Saturday at First Bank & Trust Arena and that was enough to carry the Jackrabbits to their 51st consecutive regular season win in Summit League play, a 78-61 decision over the Kangaroos.
SDSU outscored UMKC 24-12 in the first, and after the visitors fought back to cut the lead to four at halftime, the Jacks won the third quarter 25-12, continuing their habit of dominating out of the locker room break.
It was a balanced attack for the Jacks (14-3, 4-0), who shot a robust 54 percent in the game, which included a 12-for-27 effort on 3-pointers.
Paige Meyer had 15 points and eight assists to lead the way, while Katie Vasecka and Haleigh Timmer had 13 points each and Madison Mathiowetz 10 and Mesa Byom nine.
