QUINDARO, Kan. (KCTV) – The underground railroad is hallowed ground and the idea that the part that runs through Kansas City, Kansas almost became a landfill is something that was being remembered at the Gateway to Freedom Celebration.
This year’s tribute was made to Marvin Robinson II – he fought to save the Quindaro ruins for 37 years. He died from pancreatic cancer on August 22, 2024.
