Sheriff’s K9 finds heroin, handgun and mask in air filter housing

KANSAS CITY —Law enforcement are investigating a convicted felon on multiple allegations after an arrest.

Deputies were on the look-out last week for a vehicle that had fled from the scene of a burglary in Excelsior Springs, according to a social media report.

They saw the vehicle in downtown Liberty. The driver eventually came to a stop in a nearby neighborhood, where police took him into custody. K9 Argos sniffed the vehicle to determine whether there was probable cause to search it.

Argos kept sniffing the hood of the vehicle, near the windshield. Deputies opened the hood, and sure enough, where the air filter was supposed to be was a black mask, handgun and heroin…
