Impaired driving can mean holiday tragedies

PACIFIC NORTHWEST – The holiday week isn’t over yet, and already there have been multiple people arrested for driving under the influence. Law enforcement officers are working overtime to stop the impaired from getting behind the wheel, but they can’t be everywhere at once.

The Washington State Patrol reports that on Monday of this week a woman and her 5-year-old passenger were injured in a roll-over crash on State Route 397 near Kennewick. Sarah Peterson, 43, and the child are both from Enterprise. They were hospitalized, but their conditions have not been made public.

WSP reports that alcohol was involved in the single-vehicle crash. Charges are pending against Peterson…
