Washington fines CenturyLink for ‘excessive’ customer call wait times

PORTLAND, Ore. ( KOIN ) – Washington’s largest local telephone company, CenturyLink, has been fined more than $130,000 for over 100 state code violations — including “excessive” wait times to reach a customer service representative, the Washington Utilities and Transportation Commission announced.

The fine, which was issued December 20 and first reported by The Seattle Times , stems from two types of penalties. The first, was for CenturyLink’s failure to submit required documents to the commission, and the second was for the excessive customer wait times, according to UTC.

This includes 169 violations against a state administrative code requiring companies to make business documents available for commission inspection.
