ETSU swept by Chattanooga

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (Oct 17, 2024) – East Tennessee State University volleyball was swept by Chattanooga (21-25, 23-25, 11-25) in Chattanooga on Thursday.

Junior outside hitter Brianna Cantrell led the Bucs (10-8, 2-4 SoCon) with 12 kills. Freshman outside hitter Makayla Bays added eight kills in her first career start, and junior middle blocker Whitley Rammel had eight.

The Mocs (11-9, 2-4 SoCon) took the first set 25-21. UTC jumped out to a 5-0 lead before an ETSU timeout led to a run to square the match. Cantrell had six of her kills in the opening frame, including two of the Bucs’ first three points. The two teams played close to a 15-15 tie. Then, Chattanooga took the lead and maintained it to win the set 25-21, as five Mocs recorded multiple kills in the set…
