Former ETSU Buccaneer Landon Knack sees action in Game Four of the World Series

NEW YORK (WJHL) — Johnson City native and former ETSU Buccaneer pitcher Landon Knack lived out a childhood dream Tuesday night when he took the mound in Game Four of the World Series between the LA Dodgers and NY Yankees.

Knack came in the 4th with the Yankees already leading. He pitched scoreless innings up until the 6th inning, when he gave up a solo home run to Austin Wells. He would then settle down, stay out in the 7th, and finish the night four innings, two hits, two strikeouts, and one home run.

Knack becomes the first former Buccaneer to play in a World Series game since Atlee Hammaker pitched for the San Francisco Giants against the Oakland A’s in 1989.

As a Buccaneer, Knack owns the school record for career ERA among players with at least 60 innings, finishing with a career mark of 2.29. In his debut season at ETSU, Knack served as the Saturday starter in 2019 and boasted a 2.60 ERA over 97.0 innings with a team-best 94 strikeouts.
