Bond Commission approves $2 million grant for library

KENT—The long-promised $2 million in funding for expansion of the Kent Memorial Library was approved by the State Bond Commission Tuesday.

The state Bond Commission Tuesday approved $2 million in funding for the expansion of the Kent Memorial Library.

Also approved was $2 million for the Holley Place Affordable Housing Project in Salisbury.

“Several items approved by the Bond Commission today will have a major impact on the Northwest Corner,” said State Representative Maria Horn (D -64), the House chair of the Finance, Revenue, and Bonding Committee.

The grant to Kent Library will help realize plans to expand the library into the adjacent former firehouse, creating needed community spaces at the library, returning the firehouse to public use, and increasing the vitality of the business district on Main Street in Kent…
