PORTLAND, Ore. — Patients with upcoming surgeries or doctor’s appointments at Providence hospitals and women’s clinics are being notified that their procedures may be rescheduled due to a looming strike set to begin Friday.
Nearly 5,000 doctors, nurses, and healthcare workers in Oregon are prepared to strike unless an agreement is reached between union representatives and Providence administrators.
On Wednesday, Providence officials told KGW they met with union representatives from the Providence women’s clinics but were unable to reach a resolution. As a result, Providence plans to reschedule many routine procedures and outpatient surgeries. Patients will be contacted 1 to 3 days in advance if their procedures are affected…
