Oregon families struggle as relatives evacuate California wildfires

PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) – Tens of thousands of families are trying to figure out what comes next after the Palisades Fire destroyed their homes in Los Angeles. Officials are still trying to get a handle on the extent of the damage.

On Thursday, 20 Red Cross volunteers from all across Oregon headed south to help those families with the transition, working in the shelters, and delivering food, water, and clothes.

But as these volunteers fly out, there are still many people here in Portland with families down in Los Angeles, who are trying to figure out how they can help from thousands of miles away…
