KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — Juan Carols Diaz Perez’s case involving the death of his girlfriend in July 2024, was bound over to a grand jury Wednesday morning.
In court on Wednesday, the judge heard from a detective on the case. In the end, the case was bound over to a grand jury, and Diaz Perez’s bond was set at $250,000.

In July, Diaz Peres was at the center of a manhunt after police discovered a woman’s body in the bed of a pickup truck at a park in Oak Ridge while investigating an incident that began in Knoxville. The woman was later identified as Suceli Perez, 18.
Police investigating ‘suspicious’ death in South Knoxville
Diaz Perez was charged with first-degree murder . He was later located by the U.S. Marshals Smokey Mountain Fugitive Task Force near the Oak Ridge Quarry.
