Adoption fees at a Southern Indiana shelter are now covered through the end of the year, thanks to a local nonprofit.

Sharing your home with a cat, dog, or other pet is a big responsibility, but if you ask me, it’s worth every vet and pet food store visit. I have two cats and a dog at home, and they were all rescued off the street at various times over the years. While they can each be a handful on occasion, they’ve brought so much joy to my home. In fact, I really don’t think it would even feel like home without them at this point.

Helping Animals Find Homes in the Tri-State

Sadly, there are many more animals who are in desperate need of their own forever homes. Many of them can be found at various shelters throughout the area, each doing a wonderful job rescuing and helping animals in distress. Still, these creatures weren’t meant to spend their lives in a cage. If you’re ready to find your next companion, there are several places where you can adopt, and one of them is even offering FREE adoptions through December 31, 2024.

The City of Washington Animal Control and Adoption Facility is located at 213 S 200 W in Washington, Indiana. Having grown up in this area, I can attest to the generous efforts of the community, including those from Daviess County Friends for Animals. Want proof? The nonprofit adoption service has just sponsored all adoptions at the Washington facility through the end of the year. You can see the shelter’s hours below, but please note: all times listed are Eastern.
