AUSTIN, Texas — Austin Police are investigating two separate shootings that occurred within the last two weeks, both of which left a man dead; while the cases are similar, authorities do not believe they are connected. Both victims were shot in the parking lots of their respective apartment complexes.
“I can’t begin to understand how the family of this victim moves forward in the next few days, especially being a few days from Christmas,” said Corporal Jose Mendez. “We have a tragic and unfortunate situation here in our Austin community.”
The first shooting occurred on December 13th at the Griffis at the Domain apartment complex parking garage in North Austin. APD said 17-year-old Carlos Sotelo was robbed at gunpoint by multiple unidentified suspects before being shot. Sotelo later died at the hospital…
