SANTA ANA, California ( MyCaliforniaNews.com ) — A quick-thinking cat helped save its owners from a house fire early this morning by scratching at the door to wake them up. The residents, alerted by their feline, smelled smoke and heard the smoke alarms just in time.Firefighters responded promptly to reports of people possibly still inside the home, quickly extinguishing the fire and ensuring everyone, including the cat, had escaped safely, according to the Orange County Fire Authority. The residents received a $250 SAVE (Supplying Aid to Victims of Emergency) Card to assist with immediate needs such as food, clothing, and temporary shelter.
