2025 Toyota Tacoma: 6 reasons to love it, 3 reasons to think twice

Redesigned in 2024, the 2025 Toyota Tacoma rolls into the new year with some notable changes.

Front tow hooks are now standard on all models, the “Terra” paint scheme is now available on all Tacoma TRDs, and auxiliary switches move up from a 30-amp capacity to 95-amp capacity. There’s also a new TRD Pro color available dubbed “Mud Bath.”

For the unaware, Toyota completely redesigned the Tacoma’s powertrain last year. While the changes were mostly welcome, some Tacoma fans were displeased, and many lamented the loss of the old V6, while others were skeptical about the new, optional hybrid’s long-term reliability.

One thing is for sure, though: Toyota is taking the rebirth of the Tacoma seriously. They want to make sure they keep their best-selling sales title and bring in new customers. The 2025 Toyota Tacoma offers three versions of its turbocharged four-cylinder engine: a 228-horsepower, 243 lb-ft variant in the base SR model; a 278-horsepower, 317 lb-ft option available in all trims except the TRD Pro and Trailhunter; and the i-FORCE MAX hybrid powertrain, delivering 326 horsepower and 465 lb-ft of torque…
