Kenpom currently projects Michigan and Illinois to share the title at 14-6, with {Purdue, MSU, UCLA} all at 13-7. Strangely, there are no 12-8 team. {Nebby, Oregon, Wisky} are 11-9, and {PSU, OSU} are 10-10.
Kenpom also shows venue-adjusted games, where A games are Top 50, and B games are #51 to #100. For example, despite Nebby the #33 team, our game against them on Sunday is considered only a B game b/c it’s at home. With an unbalanced schedule where most teams only play each other once, where (and when) you play them becomes a lot more important.
Our next game is at Rutgers, and they’ll be playing Wisky tonight. I take a look at their schedule, and I think they get screwed pretty bad. They have 3 straight home games between tonight and next Mon, but they are on winter break until the 20th. I always think it’s best to go on the road during winter breaks when the students are not around. In that regard, I think Michigan and Illinois got lucky to have their West Coast trip taken care of during the winter break (they are currently 3-0 on the trip). Northwestern got b2b road games too but didn’t capitalize, and Collins was whining as usual even though he should consider himself lucky…
