Cody Michael McGhee, age 38, of Irvine, California, formerly from Madison, Wisconsin, passed on August 16, 2024 in Silverado, California. He was born in Madison, Wisconsin, to Michael and Penelope (Schaller) McGhee on September 21, 1985, graduating from James Madison Memorial High School in 2004.
Cody was intelligent, creative, and sensitive, expressing himself through writing, singing, acting, and drawing. He enjoyed reading, watching movies, listening to music, and watching and participating in sports, especially football and boxing. Cody loved to travel and spent time in Colorado and the Bahamas, where he was particularly fond of Gold Rock Beach. He cherished his family and had a great love for animals.
He is survived by his daughter Mikaela and son Charlton “Charlie”. He is also survived by his mother, brothers Nicholas McGhee and Benjamin McGhee, sister Jennifer Schaller, nieces Kinsey and Aaliyah, maternal aunt and uncle Stephanie and Cliff Wollin, and cousin Lily Wollin, his former wife Praveena (Atapattu) McGhee and her family, as well as numerous paternal aunts and uncles and their families, and friends in both Madison and Irvine. He was preceded in death by his father in 2011. He was also preceded in death by his grandparents John and Elaine (Sisson) McGhee and Henry and Shirley (Dobrick) Schaller.
