Flint officials look to reduce emergency wait times with new ambulances

Flint, MI — By the time a 3 p.m. Oct. 1, 2024 press conference announcing a new ambulance service for Flint residents was underway, the City of Flint Fire Department had already responded to six calls.

The new initiative which launched that morning is a move in hopes of reducing emergency response times in the city.

“Sometimes the response time is 20 minutes to a half an hour before we can even get an ambulance to come and they’re responding from outside of our city to come in for our residents,” Flint Fire Chief Theron Wiggins said during the press conference. “This will no longer be the problem for our residents.”
