Macomb County Sheriff’s deputy climbs into moving pickup truck to help 63-year-old driver having medical episode

MT CLEMENS (WWJ) A Macomb County Sheriff’s deputy is being hailed a hero for climbing into a moving pickup truck to help a driver who was having a medical episode in Mt. Clemens.

The Macomb County Sheriff’s Office said they were called to Gratiot for a silver GMC Sierra “driving erratically” near Church Street, in the area of the Mt. Clemens Middle/High School, on Thursday (9/12) around 2:18 p.m. Deputies found the vehicle on southbound Gratiot, near Remick—and activated their lights and sirens.

The driver, 63, failed to stop and kept driving southbound, at approximately five miles per hour.

“Deputies pulled alongside the driver, who appeared to be in a daze, unable to comprehend the requests,” the press release from the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office said. “Eventually the driver of the truck rolled down his window and briefly hit his breaks.”…
