Michigan snap counts, PFF grades: Starting CB benched, low pass rush mark despite 6 sacks

ANN ARBOR – Michigan’s 50-6 victory over Northwestern on Saturday was reminiscent of its 2023 national championship season, where it frequently was on the winning side of blowouts.

The Wolverines (6-5) pounced on the Wildcats (4-7) early and never took their foot off the gas, outgaining them 396 yards to 127. Saturday was just the second time Michigan won by more than 10 points all year, stringing together a complete 60 minutes seemingly without many miscues.

But according to Pro Football Focus, the Wolverines received an overall grade of 72.5 – tied for its sixth-best this season. The defense, despite holding a team to under 130 yards of offense for the first time since Week 2 of 2022, only earned a 75.5 mark, which is its fifth-highest in 2024.
