Washington’s Secure Automated Firearms E-Check system operational after outage

SPOKANE, Wash. – Washington’s Secure Automated Firearms E-Check (SAFE) system, which is used to approve gun purchases by Washington State Patrol, is back in operation after it experienced an outage starting on Nov. 4.

According to WSP, background checks were slowed due to a system outage that impacted the Washington Court System including the SAFE program.
