Slow Start Dooms Tars

WINTER PARK, Fla. (January 11, 2025) – Women’s basketball suffered a home loss to the Lynn Fighting Knights on Saturday, falling by a score of 60-53. The Tars now stand at 7-7 on the year with a 2-5 record in SSC play. Lynn improves to 9-6, 3-5 SSC.

The Tars found themselves in an early 7-0 hole in the first quarter as their first six shot attempts missed the mark. Kaitlyn Sanders broke the streak with short jumper, but Rollins only managed one more made field goal in the quarter, and wound up trailing 19-6 after one.

The second quarter saw a transformation from the Tars, as they scored at will while also limiting the Knights on defense. Rollins opened the second on a 5-0 run, and outscored Lynn 21-5 in the first seven minutes. It was a full team effort, with six different Tars scoring during the run. With 2:48 remaining, Emily McIntosh finished a tough drive with a nifty bank shot, giving Rollins a 25-24 lead, their first of the game.
