Episcopal priest with Mid-Michigan ties impacted by hurricane

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — Hurricane Helene’s path of destruction has impacted a church community run by a priest who has served Lansing and Jackson communities.

Rev. Sarah Hurlbert served at University Lutheran Church and was affiliated with All Saint’s Episcopal Church in East Lansing. She served for five years as the rector of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Jackson. Now, she is the Dean of the Cathedral of All Souls located in Biltmore Village in the Asheville, N.C. region.

The massive and destructive storm made landfall on Sept. 26 before stalling over Tennessee and degrading into a post-tropical cyclone. The storm finally dissipated on Sept. 29. after carving a path of destruction from Florida up into the Carolinas. CBS News reports at least 135 people have died as a result of the storm…
