Multiple Collisions and Fire Sparked by Suspected Driver in Las Cruces, One in Custody, Deputy Injured

A chaotic series of events unfolded in Las Cruces early Friday morning, leading to the detention of a suspect after a vehicle was involved in multiple crashes and a fire, according to local law enforcement agencies. The Doña Ana County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that deputies responded to an initial collision at Milo’s Barbershop, which resulted in a structure fire, as reported by KTSM.

In an apparent attempt to flee, despite having already crashed into the barbershop, the individual continued causing havoc on the roads. A subsequent collision occurred at the intersection of Bell and South Main Street, as detailed by KFOX-TV, and the vehicle was located again on South Main Street, taking part in another crash, said a spokesperson with the sheriff’s office, having stated that the driver attempted to evade capture once more.

Authorities say the rampage didn’t conclude there. The suspect, still behind the wheel after the second collision, managed to crash into a deputy’s squad car. KFOX-TV reports that a deputy suffered a minor injury in the process but is expected to make a full recovery.
