Pair of local prep powerlifters bring home state championsips

RIO RANCHO – A pair of local student athletes took home individual championships this past weekend at the New Mexico Activities Association’s state powerlifting meet held at the Rio Rancho Events Center.

Piedra Vista’s Haleigh Doyle brought home a state title, winning the 97-lb. weight class title, lifting a total of 475 lbs. in three different routines, beating Kira Dobbs from Cleveland High as well as Aubrey Zamora from Rio Grande.

Doyle’s mark of 475 lbs. establishes her as the record holder in the state at her particular weight class, breaking her own mark of 455 lbs. which she set last year…
