Our weather gets more active on Christmas Day as a storm system quickly moves across the state. The storm will bring snowfall to the northern mountains, and the higher elevations of west-central New Mexico. Snow may briefly mix with a few spotty showers the valleys of far northern and northeastern New Mexico. The snow could cause a few slick spots at the Raton Pass by Christmas Day evening. A couple spotty showers will also be possible by the evening in the Albuquerque Metro. Not a lot of snow is forecast through, with a dusting to 4″ at most in the northern mountains. A few mountain locations do have a chance for a white Christmas, while places like Taos, Durango, and the East Mountains could see a few flurries to a dusting of snow. Elsewhere across the state, westerly winds will pick up. Gusts could be as high as 45 mph Wednesday afternoon. Temperatures will still be mild for most of the state, with cooler air mainly in northern New Mexico…
