Southwest New Mexico Braces for Up to 5 Inches of Snow Wednesday

New Mexico – Travelers and residents in Eastern Lincoln County and surrounding areas should prepare for hazardous road conditions Wednesday. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory effective from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., with snow accumulations of up to 5 inches expected in higher elevations.

According to the advisory, the affected areas include the San Francisco River Valley, Southwest Mountains, and Chaves County Plains. Snow is forecast to begin early Wednesday morning, with heavier accumulations during peak commute times. Wind chill values could drop into the single digits, increasing the risk of hypothermia for those unprepared.

Motorists are urged to exercise caution, as snow-packed and icy roads may impact both the morning and evening commutes. If you plan to travel, allow extra time and ensure your vehicle is winter-ready. Dial 511 or visit nmroads.com for the latest road conditions.
