EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The UTEP and New Mexico State men’s basketball teams will go head-to-head in an important Conference USA game at the Don Haskins Center on Saturday night.
Both these teams head into Saturday’s game on fire and playing some of their best basketball. Both UTEP and New Mexico State went undefeated in the opening weekend of Conference USA play and hold a 2-0 record in league play. Both teams are also above .500 and are on winning streaks.
UTEP and New Mexico State are the only two teams in the league that hold a 2-0 CUSA record at this point of the season. Kennesaw State is 1-0 and will play Middle Tennessee on Thursday.
The winner of Saturday’s game will sit on top of the Conference USA standings.
UTEP (12-3, 2-0 CUSA)
UTEP is off to one of its best starts in program history. The 12-3 mark continues the best beginning to a campaign in 14 years while the 9-0 slate at home is the best since 2019-20. UTEP started CUSA play with a win over LA Tech, the CUSA preseason favorite, last Thursday at the Don Haskins Center.
