Working alongside C4K to address the needs of current and future patients, SilverSummit supported the recruiting and relocation efforts to bring several highly trained medical specialists to Southern Nevada’s only pediatric cancer and rare disease treatment center.
The themed exam room offers a comforting and unexpected environment for children, some of whom are required to be seen in the clinic twice a week. Rather than a typical white-walled exam room, every wall in the SilverSummit room is covered with brightly colored floral designs that include references to Las Vegas and local neighborhoods. Patients also have the ability to use a “key” located on one wall asking them to find each item within the design on other walls. This kind of activity helps reduce tension and worry as patients and their parents are waiting to be seen by medical professionals.
“The support of our community partners, specifically, the SilverSummit Healthplan, is truly making a difference for our patients and the larger community,” said Annette Logan-Parker, Founder and Chief Innovation and Advocacy Officer of Cure 4 The Kids Foundation. “SilverSummit’s participation means children no longer need to wait eight (8) months to see a pediatric rheumatologist, and they now have access to the state’s only full-time geneticist who is located in our clinic. By bringing these medical professionals to our Las Vegas clinic, we’re helping pediatric patients, and in the case of the geneticist, adult patients who need access to this type of expertise.”…
