Canton woman seeks leadership position in DNC

JACKSON, Miss. ( WJTV ) – A Mississippi native is seeking to be among the Democratic National Committee’s (DNC) top brass in 2025.

The elections for the DNC’s various leadership positions occur every four years after the presidential election. Democrats nationally are likely to enter into this year’s winter meeting feeling downcast about what happened in November. For Waikinya Clanton, of Canton, there is a clear reason why Democrats lost the White House. She believes that she can help the party avoid repeating the mistake in 2028 as one of the DNC Vice Chairs.

“We lost this election in the margins, because we forgot about marginalized people— young people, our seniors, our disabled; people in rural America and middle America,” Clanton said in a press release in December…
