Winter Storm expected across portions of Mississippi late Thursday – Friday

A winter storm is expected to move across the southeast Thursday night and Friday. Most of the Mississippi will just see a cold rain, but several inches of snow will fall across the northern part of the Magnolia State.

NORTH MISSISSIPPI:

A few flakes will begin to fall between 6-8pm across the northern portions of the Mississippi Delta. By midnight, moisture will overspread most of the area. Setting up a band of snow from Greenwood and Starkville, northward to the Tennessee Line. Between 2-5 inches of snow could accumulate along the I-22 corridor.

CENTRAL MISSISSIPPI:

There will be an area of mixed precipitation during the early morning ours on Friday from Yazoo City and Philadelphia northward towards Starkville. Sleet and snow accumulations are unlikely here, and rain will eventually mix back in during the late morning hours.
