Carrollton Man Fatally Shot by Conyers Police in Gas Station Confrontation, GBI Investigates 75th Officer-Involved Shooting of the Year

A police confrontation at a Conyers gas station has resulted in the fatal shooting of a 40-year-old man by local law enforcement. The incident took place early Wednesday morning and has prompted an ongoing investigation by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI). Jesse Roach of Carrollton has been identified as the deceased individual.

Officials report that Roach was involved in a disturbance inside the convenience store before the shooting occurred. After refusing to leave the premises, he was approached by police officers at the scene. Despite the officers’ attempts to resolve the situation, it is stated by Lt. Quantavis Garcia of the Conyers Police Department that Roach attempted to flee in his vehicle and subsequently opened fire on the officers, which led to the police shooting.
