Time will reveal the true apex of this
basketball team. Rick Barnes’ Vols have been ranked No. 1 in both major polls the past five weeks, but whether they’ve ever really been the nation’s best team has always been a fair question. If they weren’t the best team, though, they absolutely were the most consistent team, and they hadn’t lost until Tuesday’s two-ton truck to the face at eighth-ranked Florida.
We don’t know for certain how good these Vols are, or even how good they could be. But we know Saturday’s performance at Texas wasn’t their best, because we’d seen them play much better than that on many occasions…
