CINCINNATI (WKRC) — Voters with special needs in Cincinnati can access assistance on Election Day, ensuring they can cast their ballots with ease. Jennifer Holladay, who is visually impaired, shared her voting experience to highlight the available resources.
Holladay, accompanied by her seeing-eye dog Lulu, used the Ride A WAV service to reach the polling station in Kentucky. Despite the long lines, she received ample support once inside.
“You plug in a set of headphones, and it reads text to speech everything that’s on the ballot,” Holladay said. “There’s braille on the buttons, so I can read the buttons and listen to the speech. It’s my own completely secret voting experience.”
Poll workers assisted Holladay with the submission of her ballot, making the process smooth and accessible.
“We don’t do this every day, so I had to learn how to use the machines,” she said. “But it’s really such a great thing that it had braille on it, it read the speech, everything was clear, and it was such a wonderful process.”…
