Former Republican Congressman David Hobson , a Cincinnati native who worked to improve the lives of Ohioans and veterans during his decades in public service, died Sunday after a short illness. He was 87.
Hobson was first elected to Congress in 1990 to fill a Southwest Ohio seat vacated by Mike DeWine, who was elected lieutenant governor. During Hobson’s time in Congress representing the Springfield area, Hobson advocated for improvements to military housing and funding for the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.
DeWine, now Ohio governor, remembered Hobson as a true public servant for the Miami Valley, a patriot who always wanted to do what was in America’s best interests and a good friend. “I always looked forward to hearing from Dave as he shared his advice and counsel, and luckily for me, that was a frequent occurrence!”…
