Vanguard and South Sumter football games are becoming the type of matchups where you want to the biggest, nastiest guy on the team to be in your Foxhole. Just one touchdown was scored in the Knights’ 7-0 win, but head coach Edwin Farmer wouldn’t want his 100th win to come any other way.
Tonight’s star was the entire Vanguard defense. The unit held a South Sumter team averaging 24 points per game to well below its standards. As well as South Sumter moved the ball, they ran into a red and blue brick wall at the goal line several times, including in the final two positions that cemented the game.
“It’s nothing like getting a 100th win, and the defense gets the shut out,” Farmer said. “We missed a couple of plays, but we stopped when we needed a stop.”…
