Rockville Celebrates Independence Day at Mattie J.T. Stepanek Park

The City of Rockville is hosting its annual Independence Day celebration at Mattie J.T. Stepanek Park in King Farm from 7-10 p.m. Thursday. 

Kicking off the event, Music by Uncle Jesse will perform until 8:45 p.m., when Mayor Monique Ashton and the city council will commemorate the holiday with a warm welcome. Then, the Victorian Lyric Opera Company will perform the national anthem before returning to Music by Uncle Jesse, who will continue performing until the fireworks display at 9:15 p.m.

Food and drinks will be available for purchase. Vendors include Char’d, Clayboy’s Shave Ice, Golden Grills, The Hotdog Hideout and Pop-up Poutine, all of which offer Fourth of July staples. Coffee Roasters and Bakery will offer hot and cold beverages, ice cream and crepes, while Rice Around the World and Trippy Tacos will offer rice and salad bowls, and Mexican favorites, respectively.
