DEC Members saved $1.7M through Beat the Peak Program in 2024

GREENWOOD – Delaware Electric Cooperative (DEC) announced that its Beat the Peak program saved members more than $1.7 million in 2024. The voluntary program encourages members to reduce energy consumption during peak demand times, helping to keep electricity rates affordable. Throughout the hot summer months, DEC provides alerts to its members when energy costs are at their highest, asking them to conserve power during those times. This partnership has resulted in significant savings—over $42 million total—since the program’s start in 2008.

“We’re proud of the continued success of the Beat the Peak program, which has played a crucial role in keeping our electric rates among the lowest in the region,” Dwayne Street, DEC Chief Operating Officer said. “We’re grateful for the partnership we have with our membership.
