Sussex Academy kindergarten teacher Laurie Smailer was recognized Dec. 6 as a Hertrich Family of Automobile Dealerships Cash for Class winner. Hertrich representatives stopped by Sussex Academy’s Elementary Campus just before the school’s winter concert to surprise Smailer with a check for $940.
Smailer had applied for the funding to purchase Kinnebar Foot Swings for students. The under-desk foot swings assist students in self-regulating by promoting foot-swinging, helping them manage challenges such as sitting for extended periods of time.
