Glee Romps to Become Honor A. P.’s First Stakes Winner

Lane’s End Farm’s freshman stallion Honor A. P. was represented by his first stakes winner Sept. 29 as Glee won the $50,000 E. L. Gaylord Memorial Stakes at Remington Park.

Breaking on the rail with jockey Stewart Elliot, the Steve Asmussen trainee put the pressure on her competition early. Setting fractions of :22.36 and :45.73, the 2-year-old bay filly opened up down the lane. Completing the 6 1/2 furlongs in 1:16.90, she embarrassed her competitors by 15 1/2 lengths.

Bred in Texas by No Escape Ranch, Glee is out of the unraced Bluegrass Cat mare Red Tabby . She was purchased by Mike Rutherford for $60,000 from the Highgate Sales consignment at the 2023 Fasig-Tipton Kentucky Fall Yearling Sale. She has now earned $79,440 and was previously runner-up in the Prairie Meadows Debutante Stakes…
