Southern Virginia Men’s Golf Off to Strong Start at Pfeiffer Invitational

MISENHEIMER, NC – The Southern Virginia University men’s golf team finished day one of the Pfeiffer Invitational at Tillery Tradition Country Club in first place, holding an eight-stroke lead over second-place Pfeiffer and an 11-stroke cushion over third-place N.C. Wesleyan. Despite the first hour being played in pouring rain, the Knights heated up as the day progressed, securing the top spot.

Reflecting on the team’s performance, Head Coach Blair Garner said, “It was a good opening round for our team. We are deep, and it’s very competitive within the squad. Nikko Taggart played solid all day, and with Nick Johnson and Dax Anderson close behind, we are in a good position. We just need to make a few adjustments, and hopefully, we can improve on our day-one results.”

Sophomore Nikko Taggart led the way, standing alone in first place after firing a 71 (-1). Right behind him are teammates Anderson and Johnson, who both shot 73 (+1), placing them in a tie for third. Charles Price finished the day in 10th place with a solid round of 75 (+3), while Kaden Ford sits in 33rd after carding an 80 (+8)…
