South Carolina defeated Akron in dominant fashion on Saturday night, sending the Zips back to the Buckeye State with a 50-7 loss. The Gamecock defense played about like you would expect it to against a team that has struggled on offense for much of the season and held them to 154 yards of total offense, including 117 yards passing and only 37 yards on the ground.
The best part of Clayton White’s group’s performance was that several backups and inexperienced players saw their first extensive action of the season without a significant drop-off in performance.
