Gamecocks suffer heartbreaking loss to No. 2 Auburn

South Carolina (10-6, 0-3 SEC) dropped a close one to No. 2 Auburn (15-1, 3-0 SEC) at Colonial Life Arena on Saturday, 66-63. Auburn will likely become the number one team in the country next week.

Gamecock’s Nick Pringle missed two free throws with 9.8 seconds left, which could have given the Gamecocks the lead. However, he fought for the rebound on his second miss, forcing a jump ball with Chaney Johnson. Auburn regained possession, and South Carolina was forced to foul. Tahaad Pettiford sank both free throws, extending the Tigers’ lead to 66–63.

With 4.4 seconds remaining in regulation, South Carolina had a chance to tie the game, but Morris Ugusuk’s long 3-point attempt at the buzzer was off the mark…
