Friday filing shows Summit Utility’s rate increase still in flux for Arkansas

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – A Friday morning filing from the Arkansas Public Service Commission indicates a proposed gas utility rate increase may still be in flux.

The filing was an order requiring an update to information supplied by Summit Utilities regarding a proposed 23.4% rate increase, an additional $15.43 on average per household, set to take place in late November. The order asks for an updated billing impact and allows parties involved in the rate increase to ask questions and request additional information.

PSC chief of staff Danni Hoeser said the rate change will go into effect on Nov. 24 if the PSC takes no further action, but action would likely be taken. Hoeser explained that the PSC expects to enter an order before Nov. 24 but could not say what that motion would be. She added that the PSC could approve, deny, or modify any rate change.
