Construction begins on controversial 29th Avenue bike lane in Denver

DENVER — Construction has officially started on a bike lane along 29th Avenue near Sloan’s Lake in north Denver, after years of ongoing debate among residents and businesses over parking and safety concerns.

The stretch of 29th Avenue between Federal and Sheridan boulevards has been the center of rallies and multiple city meetings, as Denver’s Department of Transportation and Infrastructure looks to calm traffic while maintaining parking.
