Syracuse, N.Y. —The Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office Tuesday defended deputies detaining and handcuffing an 11-year-old girl for more than six minutes on a snowy Syracuse street on Monday.
Deputies were looking for a girl spotted in a stolen car Monday when they stopped the 11-year-old, who they felt matched the description of the girl they were looking for. It turned out the girl they stopped was the wrong person.
