SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV)—Hundreds gathered in pink at Clinton Square on Sunday, Oct. 20 to walk to fight a disease that has touched the lives of millions…Breast Cancer. This year’s annual ‘Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk’ aimed to raise awareness, remember those who lost their lives to Breast Cancer, and honor survivors.
One of the survivors, Shannon Barbour, told her inspiring journey of how she was shocked at first when she found out she had Breast Cancer last August. No one in her family has any history of the disease. But as time went on her diagnosis sunk in, and she knew she had to fight through it.
Just a few months after hearing the news, one of Shannon’s friends suggested they do the walk, so they did. Now, for the second year, this walk marks a significant milestone.
