Syracuse’s Pam Hunter promoted to a top leadership post in New York Assembly

Pamela Hunter, a state Assembly member from Syracuse, won a leadership post Thursday that will make her one of the most powerful state lawmakers in the 2025 session that began this week.

Assembly Speaker Carle Heastie appointed Hunter, 54, to serve as speaker pro tempore, officially the sixth-ranking position in the 150-member Assembly.
