Around 8:30 in the evening on Saturday, October 5th, Preble Fire was dispatched to Route 281 near Patriot Drive for a reported vehicle fire. A call came into Cortland County 9-1-1 reporting a vehicle fire with flames seen.
First responders from Preble along with officers with the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene. Upon arrival, Preble Fire confirmed a fully involved pickup truck on the northbound lane of Route 281.
As a result of the fire, Route 281 was briefly shut down as firefighters worked to knock out the fire. All occupants of the pickup truck were able to escape from the vehicle without injury. Route 281 was closed for around 30 minutes…
